Like many local wineries, J. Scott Cellars relies on fun events and delicious wine to entice visitors into the tasting room. Unlike other local wineries, J. Scott’s tasting room is located inside a working warehouse winery. The tasting room takes advantage of the situation by placing guests right in the center of the action. Wine barrels, a large wine press, and a variety of winemaking tools share space with visitors. Industrial style tables serve as wine bars, a large chalkboard displays a partial list of the extensive wine menu, and comfortable seating is available both inside and outside on the plant-lined patio.
Because it is a working winery, the J. Scott Cellars tasting room is only open two days a week or by appointment. Fridays from 4-9 pm, the tasting room hosts local musicians and the occasional food truck. Other than scheduled special events, Saturdays are relaxing opportunities to enjoy your favorite bottle of wine with friends from 1 pm-closing. Gourmet pizza is always available to be delivered straight to your table from J. Scott’s brewery neighbor, Viking Braggot Company.
Stay up to date
Keep up to date with special event and tasting room details at jscottcellars.com. Several big events per year are in collaboration with the WestSide Warehouse District. Members of this group are J. Scott Cellars, Viking Braggot Company, Claim 52 Brewing, Noble Estate Urban, and Crescendo Organic Spirits. Together, they host a summer block party, spring scavenger hunt, and winter holiday shopping festival.
J. Scott Cellars is opening a second tasting room at the 5th Street Market in downtown Eugene later this year. Until then—and always—the Danebo neighborhood location is well worth the visit, serving “extraordinary and out-of-the-ordinary wines” in what you might call an extraordinary and out-of-the-ordinary tasting room.
